Certified

Association of Mold Professionals
| Bio-Test
of Cleveland personnel are trained and equipped to handle
all levels of mold and fungi remediation in residential,
commercial, and industrial buildings. A certified remediator
will respond to evaluate the problem and can provide you
with an estimate to correctly remove any mold and return
your house or business to a usable mold free condition. |
Each
and every mold remediation situation is different; a small mold
growth will not require the material or complex containment
system that is necessary for an extensive large mold growth.

LEVELS
OF REMEDIATION
Bio-Test
of Cleveland has adopted current acceptable industry standards
in under taking our mold remediation projects and preparing
remediation estimates and protocols. The two quantifying guidelines
that make up acceptable practice are the New York City Mold
Guidelines on Assessment and Remediation of Fungi in Indoor
Environments and EPA's Mold Removal Document.
The
levels of Mold contamination are based on six levels as follows:
 |
Level
I - |
A
small isolated area less then 10 square feet |
|
|
|
 |
Level
II - |
Mid
sized isolated area of 10 to 30 square feet |
|
|
|
 |
Level
III - |
Large
isolated area 30 to 100 square feet |
|
|
|
 |
Level
IV - |
Extensive
contamination over 100 contiguous square feet |
|
|
|
 |
Level
V-VI - |
5-6
Involve HVAC contaminations |
In most cases a level I or II contamination can be remediated
quickly and effectively without exhausted methods. Areas of
extensive growth that require the installation of a containment
and negative air system require a much more detailed approach.
As outlined in the New York City Guidelines on Assessment and
Remediation of Fungi in Indoor Environments, costly and complex
sampling and testing is not necessary when you have a visible
mold problem. The proper step is to take action and have the
mold removed. Understanding this important process can save
you several thousands of dollars.
Bio-Test
of Cleveland requires a third party clearance test after the
completion of any remediation project involving a level IV contamination
in a Commercial or Institutional building, any contamination
involving HVAC systems, and contaminations involving health
problems. Third party completed clearance testing is completed
by an independent testing agency. Samples are taken and measured
against outdoor background levels to confirm that remediation
was successful.
REMEDIATION
PROTOCOLS
Certified
Mold Testers & Remediators are NOT authorized to write Mold
Remediation Protocol!!! This must be done by a Licensed Industrial
Hygienist.
Be
extremely leary of a Remediation firm that states otherwise!
Industrial Hygienists usually have a Phd. in microbiology or
Mycology and are Licensed by the State to write protocol. For
Industrial and Institutional projects with greater than level
IV contamination an Industrial Hygienist will be brought in
to draw up the remediation protocol. This is also true for commercial
jobs with Levels 5-6 contamination. The remediation cost will
be based on the I.H. protocol.
At
the discretion of Bio-Test of Cleveland and the property owner,
commercial projects with lower levels of contamination as well
as residential projects will be remediated using existing established
protocol.
In
cases when sampling or testing may be warranted or are taken
to complete a remediation project, Bio-Test of Cleveland will
utilize only AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association)
accredited labs.
We
maintain sufficient equipment to operate at multiple sites,
such as air scrubbers, HEPA vacuums, negative air machines,
containment systems, and the required protective equipment.
All of our personnel meet the strict requirements of OSHA's
respiratory standard as well as the OSHA standard CFR 1910,120
for Hazardous Materials and Emergency Response. All Bio-Test
of Cleveland vehicles are professional and discreetly unmarked.
